Start the year considering the classic philosophical questions: Who is God? What is real? What is the purpose of life? Who am I? Where did we come from? What is the meaning of life? The bible claims to have answers to these questions and much more.
In the beginning God created…everything…relationships…purpose…His plan.
In the New Testament, the story starts with the backstory of Jesus. He is heir to the Kingdom of David, the king of Israel.
Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help and rely on horses, who trust in chariots because they are many and in horsemen because they are very strong, but do not look to the Holy One of Israel or consult the Lord ! –Isaiah 31:1
Don’t trust in government, teachers or traditions. These all are the product of human wisdom. Don’t seek protection in courts, legislation or the resources of others. You really only have one ally, “the Holy One of Israel.”
And the effect of righteousness will be peace, and the result of righteousness, quietness and trust forever.’ –Isaiah 32:17
This is the result of individuals seeking righteous. They will be part of a community of peace.
