I like to think that when we adopt this strategy for life, gaining wisdom will be more and more a part of our experience. Consider how each element of creation listed below, is a vital part of life. If not literally, certainly symbolically. I really can’t think of one, that doesn’t have a literal significance in our lives. So read carefully and reflect on the importance of each area in your life. Take up the responsibility of thinking deeply about each area. Contemplate a question or two about them.
Here are several passages from Hebrew wisdom literature that correspond to the 8 Moves Strategy:
1. Light: “The path of the righteous is like the light of dawn, which shines brighter and brighter until full day.” (Proverbs 4:18 ESV)
2. Water: “The teaching of the wise is a fountain of life, that one may turn away from the snares of death.” (Proverbs 13:14 ESV)
3. Land: “By wisdom a house is built, and by understanding it is established.” (Proverbs 24:3 ESV)
4. Time: “To everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven.” (Ecclesiastes 3:1 ESV)
5. Life: “Whoever heeds instruction is on the path to life, but he who rejects reproof leads others astray.” (Proverbs 10:17 ESV)
6. Work: “In all toil there is profit, but mere talk tends only to poverty.” (Proverbs 14:23 ESV)
7. Rest: “When you lie down, you will not be afraid; when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet.” (Proverbs 3:24 ESV)
8. Rebirth: “The righteous falls seven times and rises again, but the wicked stumble in times of calamity.” (Proverbs 24:16 ESV)
