“But the path of the righteous is like the light of dawn, which shines brighter and brighter until full day” (Proverbs 4:18).
The word righteousness has a bad rap and often associated with self-righteousness and a haughty religiosity that is unappealing, leaving a sense of superiority over others. It may be best to consider it the path of right actions. Consistently making the right decisions becomes a brighter way. Eventually all the options become clear leading to wisdom. The one on this path grows in enlightenment.
“The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness, on them has light shone” (Isaiah 9:2).
In Isaiah’s prediction of the coming King, he says that Messiah’s followers will come out of the darkness of the world system into a great light. As in Star Wars, the battle is between those confused by evil and those enlightened by a new system, a new kingdom of light. There will be a movement, a revival of those who were once held captive by the dark, delivered into this future hope.
“Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD has risen upon you” (Isaiah 60:1).
It’s a new day, everyday is an opportunity to take a look at the new opportunities to do good. Those who follow the example of this king will be part of a new life, filled with works that lead others to this transformational system of truth and right-ness.
In the early days of the Church it was called the way. Can you identify the path before you? We all are going somewhere, consider where your path is taking you. Where you are now is more important than where you began. But, like every journey, yours has a beginning, middle and end. Take time today to talk to the One who lights your path. Prayerfully consider where you have been and where you are going. In your journal, write some ideas and maybe even draw a map.
Keep moving.
