“If you call the Sabbath a delight… then you shall take delight in the Lord.” (Isaiah 58:13-14 ESV)
How can you shift your perspective to see the Sabbath as a gift from God, rather than an obligation or burden?
“The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath.” (Mark 2:27 ESV)
When we take control of our time by recognizing God’s provision, our resting on the Sabbath will reflect trust in God’s provision and love for our lives. How can you take your spiritual practices into the Sabbath? The Jewish Sabbath rest traditionally is a break from work from sunset on Friday to sunset on Saturday but your Sabbath could be taken in many ways and at different times.
What activities or habits do you need to let go of, to fully delight in the Lord on the Sabbath? How does Jesus’ teaching that “the Sabbath was made for man” invite you to rethink your approach to rest and renewal?
