Every day you awaken to a brand new day. From unconsciousness to consciousness, from one the dreamworld to a new reality. One moment we’re asleep then we awaken.
Think of a time when there was a significant change in your life. How did that transformation affect your outlook, behavior, or relationships? This mirrors or parallels new creation in Christ.
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come” (2 Corinthians 5:17 ESV).
Consider the ‘old self’ versus the ‘new self’ described here. What parts your old life have passed away, and what new aspects have God awakened in you?
“You have been born anew, not of perishable seed but of imperishable, through the living and abiding word of God” (1 Peter 1:23 ESV).
What does it mean to you to be “born anew”? How does the picture of rebirth challenge or shape your spiritual life today?
In what way is it a struggle to leave behind the old and take on the new? How might letting go and surrendering to the power of a new life change you today?
