Key Verse: “And God said, ‘Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night.’” (Genesis 1:14 ESV)
On the fourth day, God declared that the lights in the sky would be how we mark days, weeks, months, seasons, and years. This week we consider all the ways time is measured, and our attitudes toward the past, the future, and the present. The Preacher announces the importance of understanding time in chapter three of Ecclesiastes. Everything is a momentary mist. Be aware of your mindset when it comes to time. Seasons unfold for specific purposes.
“For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven.” (Ecclesiastes 3:1 ESV)
Practice: Take time today and observe the world around you. The changing leaves, the blooming flowers, the unique feeling of this season, all these images and ideas remind us of the seasons.
Journal: Journal about the season and what God is teaching during this important time of the year. What is being cultivated during this season? How can you trust God at this time?
