Two weeks ago, the first theme was Light. Last week was Water. This week we will talk about what God did on the third day of creation: Land. So much of our strength and resources come from the land that’s been given to us. God called Abram to leave his home, Ur, in modern-day Iraq, promising that He would lead Abram and his family to a new place. Abram followed God’s leading until this scene in Genesis:
Genesis 13:14-15 ESV: “The Lord said to Abram… ‘Lift up your eyes and look… for all the land that you see I will give to you and to your offspring forever.’”
This promise to Abram is the beginning of an eternal inheritance. Land is more than a physical space but a sign of the covenant between God and His people. Life up your eyes and shift your perspective. What God gives is the fulfillment of promises given so long ago. We are called to receive an inheritance both physical and spiritual.
Psalm 37:29 ESV: “The righteous shall inherit the land and dwell upon it forever.”
When we live in alignment with God’s ways, we receive more than temporary resources or a place to live—we receive a place, forever. Here’s the invitation. Don’t just claim what God has given, but cultivate a life of faith and obedience. Land is not only a possession but a place of divine purpose.
Joshua 1:3 ESV: “Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given to you, just as I promised to Moses.”
God called Joshua to lead the people of God into the promised land. This fulfilled the covenant God made with Moses. Stepping into the land required faith and obedience. We are also called to move into place and the promise of God. Where we walk, in every area of our lives, we trust Him. It is an opportunity to recognize our inheritance
Practice: Today, walk through a physical space that is important to you, your home, park, or workplace. Reflect on the promises God has already given you. Notice how you are receiving an inheritance.
Journaling Prompt: Write about an area of your life where you sense God calling you. How are you being called to step out in faith? Write about how you can move forward, trusting that He has prepared the way.
Stepping out,
— Glen
